Lanoha Nurseries is in search of a Retail Assistant Manager in our Garden Center. This is an excellent opportunity for those who are seeking professional and personal growth in a take-charge environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the management and supervision of all areas assigned by the existing management team, and follow policies in regard to Customers, Associates and merchandising. They will also be responsible for learning all phases of Store operations. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager is responsible for leading the entire operation of the Garden Center to ensure that Lanoha Nurseries company standards and best practices are consistently met.


  • Knowledgable in Retail Operations (opening/closing of store, setting up displays, buying, employee scheduling) – Experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience within the horticultural industry preferred
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines – must be comfortable delegating tasks to associates and following up on their progress
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and able to learn company’s POS & ERP systems.
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule during retail store hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Provide superior and professional customer service by creating a friendly and welcoming environment


  • Drive sales and profitability through proper merchandising and overall presentation within departments
  • Provide innovative ideas for the design of store displays & manage department associates and supervisors to effectively communicate setup for inbound merchandise.
  • Ensure staff maintains shopping areas daily for cleanliness and presentation
  • Manage staffing and assign work schedules and duties
  • Manage functions for opening / closing, money handling, cashiering functions, and staff training
  • Work with vendors for delivery schedules, credits, and returns
  • Assist with purchasing budgets to maximize store profitability
