Lanoha Nurseries, Inc., a leading retail garden center in Omaha, NE., is looking for an individual who wants professional and personal growth in a take-charge environment.

The role of the Retail Greenhouse Manager will provide management in all areas of the greenhouse. The qualified candidate must possess previous work experience in a greenhouse, education in horticulture, arboriculture, forestry or a similar field. Strong customer service and response to inquiries involving plant material, plant material health and a strong background in annuals, tropicals, and house plants is required. Additionally, this position requires an ability to read and interpret sales reports to make informed buying decisions for certain categories within the greenhouse department.

Requirements

  • 2+ years Greenhouse experience 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and ERP Operating systems.  
  • Ability to run reports, analyze data, and study sales trends  
  • Knowledge of tropical, houseplants, and annuals 
  • Salesmanship and ability to teach importance of customer service 
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and handle weather extremes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Preference given to horticulture degrees and certifications
  • Experience with Acumatica software a plus
  • Bilingual a plus (English/Spanish) but not required

Responsibilities

  • Manage and Maintain greenhouse facilities operations, plant health, and insect & disease control.  
  • Responsible for the selection and procurement of annuals, tropicals, house plants, hanging baskets, custom container plant materials, vegetables, herbs, and succulents. 
  • Purchasing and maintaining correct inventory levels 
  • Having an eye for detail and designing annual flower arrangements for customers 
  • Works with current manager and other department assistants to effectively communicate greenhouse setup and process 
  • Provide training and orientation to all new hire employees 
  • Work with vendors for delivery schedule, credits, and returns 
  • Receive incoming plant material and complete cost analysis for material purchased 
  • Ability to multi task and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated, positive, customer focused with excellent customer service skills
