Lanoha Nurseries, Inc., a leading retail garden center in Omaha, NE., is looking for an individual who wants professional and personal growth in a take-charge environment.

The role of the Retail Greenhouse Manager will provide management in all areas of the greenhouse. The qualified candidate must possess previous work experience in a greenhouse, education in horticulture, arboriculture, forestry or a similar field. Strong customer service and response to inquiries involving plant material, plant material health and a strong background in annuals, tropicals, and house plants is required. Additionally, this position requires an ability to read and interpret sales reports to make informed buying decisions for certain categories within the greenhouse department.


  • Punctual in reporting to work on time each day
  • Knowledge of annuals, tropicals, house plants and succulents
  • Must be self-motivated, positive, customer focused with excellent customer service skills
  • Creative, energetic, enjoys working outside and with people in the community
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and insurability under company’s insurance policy
  • Organizational efficiency
  • Proficiency in administrative tasks
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines and goals
  • Experience with Acumatica software a plus
  • Bilingual a plus (English/Spanish) but not required


  • Preference given to horticulture degrees and certifications
  • Two years of prior gardening experience
  • Able to perform physically demanding activity in an all-season outdoor environment
  • Desire to learn and practice new horticultural approaches
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team
  • 2- or 4-year degree in horticulture, arboriculture, forestry, or similar field
  • Experience with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices and sustainability; Pest control applicators’ license a plus


  • Selects, orders, and produces 4” annual plant palette, hanging baskets, patio planters and fall mum sales for Lanoha Nurseries Garden Center, evaluate data analysis and customer trends in producing 4” annuals, hanging baskets, patio pots and mums for garden center sales
  • Match customer trends by supplementing annuals and seasonal plant palette using select vendors to purchase, schedule delivery, receive and display for Garden Center sales
  • Orders following sales trends and forecasts for tropicals, houseplants, succulents, vegetables and herbs for Garden Center sales
  • Expert plant health diagnosis; including diseases, fungus, insect and other pests, and overall plant health
  • Participate in safe working practices
  • Create a customer-focused sales environment that associates buy into and are excited about, ensuring the staff are creating a positive customer experience
  • Implement procedures to ensure plant health, including watering and fertilizing schedule, and a maintenance plan for managing pests and disease
  • Manage and require that all plants are tagged properly, received, inventoried, and transferred using Acumatica software
  • Identify and communicate operations and maintenance problems as needed
  • Provide training and orientation to all new hire employees
  • Work with vendors for delivery schedule, credits, and returns
